Mermaid Finished (really this time)

Ok, This is really the final. I'm glad that I went back and changed it up a bit. I made the lights go the opposite direction as to not shadow the most of the features with the lighting going the other way. And fixed the shadows as well as thinned out the water fx. to have a bit more contrast.
And yes, Chatree... I fixed her boooobie (this time).

I'll be working on next is going to be a logo for this said friends boyfriends painting company, plus a few more misc paintings as well as finishing up some of the ones I started in previous posts, I also want to get started on the storyboards for a new animation that I want to get going on. We'll see how it goes.

10 and 15 min. Color Tests

Here is three color tests that Chatree gave me to do. This time we used the regular Watercolor tool and Digital Watercolor tool in Painter for these tests.. I really enjoyed doing these. It really forces you to choose colors quickly and get them laid down fast.

Spent a Week Away

Well, it started Friday and ended today. I went to visit my sisters in Safford Arizona and had the chance to visit with a great friend that I had not seen in years, who was visiting from Texas. I managed to break away for a few hours and take some pictures of Roper Lake State Park that is in the neighborhood. It is a special place for me because my Dad used to work at the park as a volunteer. I miss the days. Here is a couple photos I took. I got trigger happy with the digital camera and took like 263 photos... I'll post new ones up once in a while. I had a great time.

Speed Paint 3 Update 2

Here is another 2 Hrs. put into it for a total of 4 Hrs. I think I have fixed the placements now and can continue with it. I am getting the hang of it now and feel like I a improving a great deal with this one. Thanks to Chatree who's been a really great at helping me. You can see his work at PaintATree, just click the link in the links menu.

Speed Paint 3 Update

I like working on this one, I wanted to keep going with it. So I put in another hour to fix it up and continue taking it farther. Total time so far is 2 Hrs. I think I would have been to this point in one hour had I not started off all wrong, I have been spending most of the time fixing it. But I learned from it, thats the important thing. I plan to work on this one until I finish it.
It is a great learning tool go off of someone else's work when first starting out.

Mermaid

Here is the other painting for my friend Amy, she is planning to get this and the dragon done as tattoo's... I decided to paint them both, mostly for fun, but also to use for the tattoo artist to use for reference if he/she chooses. This particular painting is not finished, I just wanted to post it at it's current point of progression.

5 Min. Color Tests

After our painting session we went on to do these color tests, each 5 Min. This too was quite fun and informational as far as working quickly and just capturing the base colors and not concerning myself with getting to the details.

Speed Painting Session 3

Well, Chatree surprised me with quite the challenge with this one, this particular painting session was quite fun, and I learned quite a lot of things I need to pay more attention to when I start... I was just so gung ho about doing this one that I didn't pay attention to where I was placing the elements, rather, I was just flinging the brush where ever throwing down the base colors as shown in the first 20 min image. During the break and reviewing it thats when I realized my error, and most of the 2nd round I worked to correct the placements, however, I messed up the tower a bit, Although it can easily be fixed with more time on it.
